Jewell Harris Jr.

Prior to establishing Harris Law Firm, P.C., Attorney Harris, a native of Gary, Indiana, worked as an attorney with Hodges & Davis, P.C., one of the most prestigious and oldest law firms in the State of Indiana. Attorney Harris graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Business Administration. He subsequently earned his law degree from Valparaiso University, where he received the Indiana Bar Foundation Scholarship and served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association, and as a member of the Moot Court Society. He also worked as a State Judicial Intern for the Porter County Circuit and Superior Court while attending law school. Attorney Harris is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and has been listed in Who's Who Among American Law Students.

Active in community affairs, Attorney Harris served as the Deputy Executive Director for the Chicago-Gary Regional Airport Authority from 2001-2007. A member of the Lake County, Indiana State, and American Bar Associations, Attorney Harris is licensed to practice law before all courts in the State of Indiana, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. Currently, Attorney Harris is the appointed Probate Commissioner for the Lake County Circuit Court and presides over cases involving the probate of wills, the administration of trusts and the appointment of guardians. Attorney Harris also serves on the Board of Directors of the Lake County Bar Association.

Attorney Harris handles a broad range of cases and currently serves as counsel to the Lake County (Indiana) Board of Commissioners, Gary (Indiana) City Clerk, and the City of East Chicago (Indiana) Housing Authority. Attorney Harris' practice focuses primarily on municipal law, employment law, personal injuries and criminal matters. Having received significant training from the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Attorney Harris focuses in the area of employment discrimination, particularly in the context of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1991, the Age Discrimination Employment Act (ADEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Penny Bizoukas, legal secretary, has more than 20 years experience working for firms in Illinois and Indiana. Born in Greece, she came to America when she was 5. Penny has lived in Northwest Indiana for the past 21 years.
