FAQ

Who makes your jewelry? And where is it made?

Every piece of Red Creek Spirit Jewelry is carefully handcrafted by designer Alison Miller in the Red Creek Spirit Studio, in downtown St Petersburg, Florida.

What stones do you use in your jewelry?
Red Creek "jasper" rough.

Most of my jewelry has Red Creek Jasper (sometimes called Cherry Creek Jasper or Picasso Jasper) incorporated into it, but not always. Red Creek Jasper is kind of an unknown among stones used for jewelry making. It's softer than other quartz-based stones (like true jaspers) and can have a granite-like appearance, but testing to determine its exact makeup is incomplete. This type of stone is the center of most of my jewelry for one reason: I am crazy in-love with it. The color combinations I find in each bead are dazzling. When I look at these stones, I always feel as if I am gazing at autumn leaves in the Berkshires of Massachusetts or the Rockies of Colorado. So I use them because I love looking at them, holding them, feeling them…and best of all, sharing them with you. You’ll frequently find bits of Turquoise in my designs, as well as Carnelian, Jade, Amber, Lapis, and other gemstones that I feel blend and balance each other out visually, physically, and energetically.

What stringing material do you use?

I use Soft Touch Wire, which is a lead-free beading wire that the best designers use. It is constructed of 21 micro woven stainless steel wires, and has a test strength of 10 lbs. All stainless steel used in the construction of Soft Flex products is 100% recyclable. The nylon coating is derived from renewable resources and can be recycled. And Soft Touch is an American company in Sonoma, CA.

Do you have a catalog?

I have up-to-date photo albums of all my jewelry posted here in this website, as well as on our Facebook page. They serve as our catalog. Be sure to browse through the albums—Red Creek Spirit Jewelry can’t be pigeon-holed. There’s a wide variety of styles and designs, and new ones coming out all the time.

What is the price range of your jewelry?

Red Creek Spirit earrings start at $18, my bracelets start at $22 each, and my necklaces start at $38. Custom designed necklaces can run as high as $125 each, depending upon the materials selected and the amount of time spent with the customer on the design.

How do I order a piece of jewelry?

If you’ve found just what you’re looking for in one of the albums, you can order it directly from this website by putting it in your cart and paying for it with PayPal (a very easy credit card system that everyone can use at no cost to the buyer.)

If you would like a custom designed necklace, start by picking out a “shield” (pendant) from our Shields album, send me an email at Alison@redcreekspirit.com, letting me know which shield you want and then, most importantly, tell me how you want to feel when you put this necklace on. Do you want to feel courageous? Empowered? Loving and Generous? Do you want this necklace to help you tap into your own healing powers? Do you want the necklace to remind you of someone important to you? Or maybe just remind you of how important you are to yourself?

I’ll also want to know where on your neck/chest you would like the shield to rest. Do you want it closer to the throat chakra, up near the neck (influencing self-expression)? Or do you want it a bit farther down, closer to the heart chakra (where we feel love)? Or perhaps you want it a bit longer still, so that it interacts with the chakra in the Solar Plexus, where the core of our power resides?

How quickly will my new jewelry arrive?

If you want it sent First Class via the US Post Office, it’ll be there between 2-6 business days from the day you order it. (Processing your order takes no more than 1 day usually.) First Class mailing is free. If you would like it sent Priority Mail, it will take only 2-3 days from the day of the order, with an additional charge of $6.

What is the best way to see new designs?

There are three ways to be in on our latest offerings: you can check the Red Creek Spirit Jewelry website frequently, you can “LIKE” us on Facebook and receive frequent updates from us, or you can send us your email address and receive periodic email updates.

How should I care for my jewelry?

Your jewelry should be the last thing you put on. Please avoid applying hairspray or perfume while wearing your handmade jewelry and keep it away from chemicals or cosmetics that can discolor or damage your jewelry. Keep your jewelry stored far from humidity or air pollution.

Sterling silver tarnishes from the interaction of silver with sulfides in the air. First the tarnish takes on a golden hue, and eventually it turns black. This is a natural process.

To clean the sterling silver use a jewelry cleaning cloth. Avoid all liquid dips, which leave a residue, and make the necklace stiff.

What’s your “Life’s Too Short Guarantee”?

Life is just too darn short to waste feeling disappointed or frustrated over something like a piece of jewelry. So if, when it arrives, it’s not what you expected or you don’t like it for whatever reason, just send it on back and I’ll refund your money the minute I get it. There is literally no risk in buying a piece of jewelry from me. I’m in this for the long haul, so I want the people I interact with to love working with me as much as they love my work.
